To remove characters from filenames:
Drag the files you want to rename from the Finder to the file table.
Click
and choose Characters.
Click Remove.
Enter the character position at which to start removing characters in the “From position” box.
Enter the character position at which to stop removing in the “To position” box.
Click Apply.
. In this case a character position of 0 means the last character, 1 the second-to-last, and so on. This is useful if each filename has a different length and you want to, say, remove the two characters before the last, in which case you would set 2 as the “From position” and 1 as the “To position”.
